Crystal Jin: Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Hi! I’m Crystal Jin and I am a grade 11 student at Leaside High School. I am the Founder and Team Captain of the All-Girls VEX robotics team  200G Lancebotics. Robotics has been a large part of my life ever since I can remember and have been participating in competitive robotics such as VEX and FIRST robotics since grade 9. Throughout my years, I have gained an understanding on the importance of making the robotics world welcoming and inclusive.  I was often one of the only girls on the team and witnessed several girls try to join, but ultimately fail because they felt that they weren’t qualified or contributing enough. Through the All-Girls team I was able to lead a group of 15 girls (mostly rookies with zero experience) gain confidence and learn how to design, build,  and program robots. We went through numerous obstacles, but we grew as a team, learned as team, and became lifelong friends. After a well-fought season we ranked 16th out of 200 teams in the province for robot skills, we won the build award, judges award, and create award. Unfortunately, we fell short of qualifying for the VEX Robotics World Championships by 2 matches. This experience inspired us create MeCh Savvy because we wanted to give back to the community and allow more girls to have exposure to the amazing robotics world.

Sabrina Wen: Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer

Hi I’m Sabrina! As a student who is a very passionate in both entrepreneurship and the ever growing technology around us, creating MeCh Savvy allowed me to explore my interests even further. When I’m not participating in various events and initiatives, I like to enjoy my free time relaxing, journaling, and playing badminton.
